Graduate employability

All undergraduate programmes are designed to foster connections with leaders within industry, community groups and corporations, thus increasing graduates’ employability. The School’s ‘work-integrated learning’ programmes, which are run as components of each course and involve students’ placement in specific business environments, support this initiative and aim to improve participants’ prospects following graduation.

The School maintains partnerships with numerous organisations, including Apple University Consortium, Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF), Queensland New Filmmakers Awards (QNFA) and Screen Australia, the key federal government funding body for the Australian screen production industry.

Besides encouraging students to take advantage of its varied professional connections, GFS promotes the value of gaining international professional experience by aiding attendees’ organisation of study-abroad opportunities in cities such as Los Angeles, Alberta and Edinburgh.

Purpose-built facilities

Students enrolled at GFS are able to enjoy the School’s modern, purpose-built facilities, which include a 92-seat cinema, cutting-edge computer labs, multi-cam television equipment and studios for stop-motion animation.

The impressive cinema, which is an invaluable tool for both tuition and research, offers a unique programme covering film, video and animation; students benefit from the opportunity to view and share their own work in an authentic, professional cinematic environment.
