Mexico’s attorney general has confirmed that one of 43 missing college students has been identified among charred remains found several weeks ago near a garbage dump.
Jesus Murillo Karam said the student was Alexander Mora, based on material extracted from a bone and analyzed by forensics experts at a laboratory in Innsbruck, Austria.
Murrillo Karam said Sunday that 80 people have been arrested in connection with the students’ disappearance September 26 at the hands of the mayor and police in the city of Iguala in southern Guerrero state. He said the investigation continues.
Family members revealed the match on Saturday and say the struggle for justice and to find the remaining 42 will not stop with just one missing student identified.
