Real skills, endless possibilities with Sydney TAFE English Centre-SITEC
Sydney TAFE English Centre – SITEC is a modern English language preparation centre where students from every corner of the world come to gain the skills necessary to go on to further education, improve their career prospects or to open up many other opportunities.
SITEC is part of one of the largest and oldest educational establishments in Australia – TAFE NSW – Sydney Institute – where approximately 70,000 students enrol every year, including 3,500 international students. It is located within Sydney TAFE’s Ultimo campus – a vibrant, modern, university-style campus right in the heart of Sydney.
Learning English alongside Australian and international students gives a richer intercultural experience, more robust language and a very strong grounding for further study, career or travel.
Preparation for academic and career success
SITEC programs provide direct pathways to vocational and higher education courses at TAFE NSW and some of the best universities in Australia – no IELTS* or other test required. All courses prepare students for intercultural communication in their chosen career field. These universities accept SITEC Certificate 4 in English for Academic Purposes for direct entry: Macquarie University, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), University of Western Sydney (UWS), Central Queensland University (CQU), Charles Sturt University (CSU) and International College of Management, Sydney. Other universities and education providers frequently accept SITEC certificates for direct entry on an individual bases.
SITEC has more than 20 years of history of excellence in preparation for academic study and professional communication. A recent study has demonstrated that the probability of success in the first academic year of its graduates is on average higher than students who met English language requirements through an international test alone.
SITEC courses have a strong focus on global employability: professional communication skills development, research and presentation skills, resume writing, interview techniques and intercultural competencies. This gives many of its graduates a competitive edge in the international employment market. While studying English at SITEC, students are immersed in a multicultural campus experience with people from very diverse backgrounds.
For those who study on a non-student visa, there are more flexible options available: students can choose a less formal experience and start any Monday.
There is a great student and teacher community and activities online and off-line: SITEC Sports Club (football and other games) trains and runs competitions twice a week, every Friday a teacher takes students on an excursion after classes, there is a vibrant Facebook community and lots of Student Association activities on campus – all free of charge.
