Colombia’s Nairo Quintana might not have won the Tour de France, but that didn’t stop the cyclist’s fans showing their full support.
One French super fan was so excited to meet his idol that he even brought his infant son along.
“I called him Nairo after you!” he says, while wearing the Colombian flag and football shirt and showing the cyclist his son’s passport.
“I know all about your story. I know that people from Boyacá (a region in Colombia) are shy and quiet…” he adds.
“You’re going to win the Tour de France this year!”
“She’s from Barranquilla,” he adds, pointing out his Colombian wife in the background.
“I know that I have to fight, I’m one of the favorites. But there are others who are also favorites,” Nairo adds at the end of the video.
The Colombian certainly had Chris Froome worried during the tour, almost catching the Brit.
“To be second is not bad. It is two years since I was there and this year I started from zero, with a different position, and also I got another good result,” Quintana commented.
“I lost the Tour in the first week in Holland, when we gave away this minute and a half in Zeeland. The team were caught in a crash that left us unprotected in the wind.”
