Chile: Michelle Bachelet's approval rating at all time low

A new poll says the approval rating of Chilean President Michelle Bachelet is at its lowest level since she took office last year.

The monthly survey released Monday by pollster Gfk Adimark says Bachelet’s overall approval fell 1 percentage point in July, dropping to 26 percent.

She returned to the presidency in March 2014.

GfK Adimark says Bachelet’s approval ratings have suffered as her government struggles to fulfill ambitious reforms amid slowing economic growth. A seven-week strike by Chilean teachers and concerns about a spike in crime also affected her approval numbers.

The poll surveyed 1,015 people between July 8- 30. It has an error margin of 3 percentage points.
