Manizales, in the Colombian department of Caldas, is famed for its January feria – a carnival type celebration featuring processions, dancing and live performances across the town.
Yet the town also hosts a more unusual extreme sports event: the Redbull sponsored urban downhill. Hundreds of hopeful cyclists undertake the steep course, racing down slopes and round hairpin bends at incredible speeds.
The course was won once again by local Marcelo Gutiérrez, amongst the world’s top cyclists, for the fifth year running. The Colombian completed the course in an impressive time of one minute, 44 seconds.
