Steve Harvey makes tearful apology to Miss Colombia on his own show.

On Tuesday night U.S. television broadcast an interview by American presenter Steve Harvey with Miss Colombia 2015, Ariadna Gutiérrez.

In a public interview held between the two for  the first time after Harvey accidentally announced Gutiérrez as the winner of Miss Universe, on December 20, the two spoke about this historic mistake which made its way around the world.

“I just wanted to say how sorry I am,” Harvey tearfully said to Miss Colombia.

“I am beyond sorry for what happened that night.”

“It was like a nightmare. I went home and I watched the videos and I couldn’t believe it. But then I spent time with my family and I calmed down. I have moved on. It was really, really harsh to watch,” Gutiérrez said on the show.

Harvey posted several videos of the interview on his Twitter account:

The beauty queen also took the opportunity to  point out that she had “already moved on” from the mishap, and denied rumours that she was planning on suing the talk show host after admitting that she had been contacted by lawyers after the pageant.

“I never thought of suing. That’s not me, that’s not who I am,” she said.

Gutiérrez also joked that “You have to learn to read the cards because it was there, what happened is that you wanted me to win.”

Under the title “Miss Universe: The Truth”, the show was a special edition of the television program “The Steve Harvey Show”, broadcast in two instalments.

Newly crowned Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach from the Philipinnes, also appeared on the show to talk about the mishap and her reactions to Gutiérrez being stripped of her title.
