In addition to the generalist MBA, the School offers the MBA (Oil and Gas), in partnership with Aberdeen Business School at Robert Gordon University in the UK, the MBA (Strategic Procurement) which is accredited by the Chartered Institute for Purchasing Supply (CIPS) and the MBA (Business Leadership). The MBA may be combined with other CGSB master programs, enabling students to graduate with a double-degree.

MBA (Oil and Gas)

In response to a growing demand for senior managers and executives with a solid business skill set and knowledge of the energy sector, the Curtin Graduate School of Business (CGSB) has partnered with the Aberdeen Business School at Robert Gordon University (RGU) to deliver a unique MBA program in oil and gas management. The Curtin MBA (Oil and Gas) degree is designed to provide experienced practitioners in the oil and gas sector with the advanced business, management and leadership skills needed to function at a strategic level as contemporary energy managers.

Aberdeen, known as the oil capital of the world, is a global hub for energy companies and innovation. Delivering the best of RGU’s program online in combination with Curtin’s own experts in the energy sector, Curtin’s MBA (Oil and Gas ) is the only choice for managers serious about gaining the critical skills they need to further their business career.

The course is aimed at middle to senior managers within the oil and gas industry or those aspiring to these positions. The MBA (Oil and Gas) is a unique major combining industry knowledge and management principles with the core requirements of the Curtin MBA to ensure that graduates have a broad coverage of key functional disciplines within the field as well as specialized knowledge of the oil and gas industry.

Master of Science (Mineral and Energy Economics)

This program is designed specifically to reflect the growing demand for mineral and energy economists in Australia and globally. It is a 12 unit degree program and may be completed in one and a half years full-time or two to three years part-time. The program is designed for middle and senior level professionals with around 10 to 12 years of work experience that seek a greater understanding of the economics of mineral and energy extraction and operation. Students in the program are drawn from a diversity of backgrounds including geology, metallurgy, mining, engineering, economics, law, finance and commerce.

The curriculum develops skills in economic and financial analysis and develops an understanding of legal, regulatory, political and social environments. Depending on the stream, selected students are immersed in the workings and language of the mining sector through a residential component at the Curtin University Western Australian School of Mines (WASM) in Kalgoorlie. The majority of our units are delivered in intensive mode.

The MScMEE may also be combined with Curtin’s MBA to offer a double degree. This is the only degree of its type in the world.
